YAG Laser Treatment

YAG Laser Treatment in Yankton, SD | Advanced Eye Care

A YAG laser is a special eye laser Dr. Kouri uses to help improve vision after cataract surgery. Sometimes, months or years after cataract surgery, the thin membrane behind your new lens can become cloudy and make your vision blurry again. This is not a new cataract, but a common change called posterior capsule opacification.

During the YAG laser procedure, Dr. Kouri uses precise laser energy to open a small window in that cloudy membrane. This lets light pass through clearly again so you can see better. The treatment is quick, painless, and done in the office, helping many patients restore clearer vision after cataract surgery

If needed, Dr. Kouri will discuss this treatment with you during your exam.

What to Expect After YAG Laser Treatment

After the YAG laser procedure, most patients notice clearer vision within hours to a few days. Your eye may feel slightly irritated or sensitive to light for a short time, which is normal. You may also notice a few floaters right after the procedure—these usually fade over time.

The treatment does not require downtime, and most patients can return to normal activities the same day.
